NOTICE OF MAIL IN VOTING

The Town of Wolseley has recently adopted Bylaw No. 11-2020  Mail-In Ballot Bylaw. Under this bylaw, residents can sign up to vote for municipal elections using a mail-in voting system. Mail-In voting follows a safe and secure method to guarantee the safety of the election and election results. To vote using a mail-in ballot:

Note: The Town must receive your ballot no later than 8:00 PM on November 13, 2024. Any mail-in votes received after 8:00 pm on the 13th will be deemed ineligible.

  1. Complete Form R – Voter’s Registration Form and Poll Book – Mail-In Ballot and Form C – Declaration of Person Requesting a Mail-In Ballot. Submit these forms to the Town by dropping them off at the Town Office, located at P.O. Box 310, 610 Varennes Street, Wolseley, SK, S0G 5H0, by mailing them to the Town Office, or by scanning and emailing to townofwolseley@sasktel.net. You can register to vote by mail-in ballot up to November 12th (the day before the election).
  2. Upon receiving the completed Forms R and C, Town staff will create a ballot kit. This ballot kit will include ballots, a Ballot Security Envelope (labelled Envelope A), a Voter Confirmation Envelope (labelled Envelope B), an Outer Envelope (labelled Envelope C), and a Mail-In Ballot Voting Instruction Sheet. Town staff will mail the completed ballot kit to the address you provided in Form R. You can also pick up the kit from the Town Office by giving advanced notice.
  3. Upon receiving the ballot kit, follow the steps on the Mail-In Ballot Voting Instruction Sheet to vote.
  4. After you have voted and completed all steps on the instruction sheet, submit the Outer Envelope (C) to the Town by dropping it off in person to the Town office or mailing the package to the Town office.  If you choose to mail it to the Town Office, postage has already been paid by the Town.
  5. Congratulations! You have voted! Thank you for participating in the election process!

Nomination forms, and other election information, may be obtained from the municipal office or the municipal website (wolseley.ca/council/2024election). Nomination forms must be properly executed and accompanied by a Public Disclosure Statement.

Withdrawing a Nomination – A candidate may withdraw his/her nomination by providing the Returning Officer with a written declaration during normal office hours until 24 hours after the close of Nomination Day (being Thursday, October 10 at 4:00PM). The statement of withdrawal (not a prescribed form) must be signed by the candidate and witnessed by: two witnesses; or the Returning Officer. The name of a person who withdraws his/her nomination must not appear on the ballot.

Nomination Package:
All individuals wanted to run in the election must fill out the 2024 Nomination Package. Directions for filling out Nomination Papers include:
1. Have the correct number of Nominators (eligible voters). Five (5) signatures are required for Town of Wolseley elections
2. Have a completed Candidate’s Acceptance including witness signatures. The form must be signed by the candidates and witnessed by two (2) people, preferred not to be Election Officials.
3. Include a Public Disclosure Statement. Nominees are required to attach a completed public disclosure statement to the nomination paper. If the public disclosure statement is not attached, the Nomination Officer shall not accept the paper.

Recordings of the sessions are now available on the Municipalities of Saskatchewan YouTube channel. We are sharing these videos with anyone in our municipality who has an interest in municipal governance or is thinking of running for municipal council.
