Municipal elections will be taking place on November 13. Have you thought about running for municipal council?
SUMA, the association that represents Saskatchewan’s hometowns, including NAME OF CITY HERE, is offering free virtual sessions for all city residents interested in learning more about being on municipal council.
The first session, Municipal Governance 101: Cities, Towns, and Villages, will take place on September 11 from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.
In Municipal Governance 101: Cities, Towns, and Villages, attendees will learn:
- How democracy works
- The roles and responsibilities of council
- Navigating conflicts of interest
- Challenges unique to their sector
The second session, Town Hall, will take place on September 17 from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. This is an opportunity for potential candidates from towns to ask their municipal governance questions.
